Syntegra Installs Wi-Fi Connectivity oOver St. Paul Winter Carnival Ice Palace

Syntegra, the $1 billion business transformation and change management subsidiary of BT Group, announced that it is lighting up the Saint Paul, Minnesota Winter Carnival Ice Palace, located across the street from the Xcel Energy Center, with wireless connectivity.

Syntegra is installing a Wi-Fi switch panel on top of the Xcel Energy Center to provide Ice Palace operations staff with up to three miles of outdoor wireless access around the Ice Palace grounds. With Wi-Fi capability from Syntegra, operations staff will be able to access the Internet, their email and network files to monitor operations from the ice palace grounds.

Wi-Fi communications is a new way to manage operations during the outdoor winter carnival which is estimated to be visited by over 1 million guests.

As part of the Wi-Fi connectivity capability, visitors with Wi-Fi enabled PDA’s or laptops are able to access the Internet, their email and the City of St. Paul website which provides updates of carnival events and lists local places of interest.

This state-of-the-art Wi-Fi switch technology outperforms access point wireless connectivity and avoids the alternatively expensive and prohibitive option of laying fiber cable under city streets.

Lighting up the Ice Palace with Wi-Fi connectivity demonstrates the Empowered Community initiative from Syntegra. The Empowered Community draws upon Syntegra’s wireless network, mobile application, message management and security capabilities. It is a common communications platform designed to help citizens stay connected.

Wi-Fi connectivity, from Syntegra, provides minimum speeds of 1Mbps - 54Mbps
