International Packet Communications Consortium --IPCC-- to Host VoIP Tracks at CompTel/ASCENT Spring Convention & Expo Feb. 8-11, 2004 in Anaheim
The International Packet Communications Consortium (IPCC) announced today that it will host tracks focusing on the opportunities, challenges and regulatory issues surrounding Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) at the CompTel/ASCENT Alliance Spring 2004 Convention & Expo, Feb. 8-11, 2004, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif.
"We are pleased to have the IPCC host our VoIP tracks at the Spring Convention & Expo," said H. Russell Frisby Jr., CEO of the CompTel/ASCENT Alliance. "There are some strong synergies between our two organizations. The IPCC is an independent, vendor neutral, technology expert, that shares the CompTel/ASCENT mission of helping carriers of all types to offer advanced services that will improve their ROI and profitability. VoIP is living up to its promise as many of our members launch new products and services aimed at enterprise and end-user customers and others make plans to do so."
"I am extremely delighted that the IPCC will be partnering with CompTel/ASCENT to produce their VoIP tracks at the Spring Convention," said Michael Khalilian, Chairman and President, IPCC. "In developing these tracks, we will draw heavily on our Service Provider Board and industry leading vendor Members to provide thought leadership and industry consensus on topics that are of importance to carriers and service providers, in particular."
The IPCC's "VoIP Opportunities" track, to be held February 9th from 3 p.m.- 4 p.m., will focus on the state of VoIP today -- what services are being successfully deployed -- and prospects for more advanced services that are just around the corner. The IPCC's "VoIP Challenges" Track, to be held February 10th from 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m., will highlight the steps being taken by carriers and vendors to address real world business (ROI) and implementation issues such as, integrating new services with legacy systems, interoperability of various platforms in order to bundle services, and management of network elements to deliver a seamless service.
The IPCC's "VoIP Regulatory Issues" track, to be held February 10th from 9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. will discuss the status of VoIP: a telecom service, an information service, neither or both? As carriers begin deploying VoIP services, policymakers in the U.S. and internationally are beginning to address this issue. This Track will show how their decisions will have major ramifications for the future of VoIP and the telecommunications industry. A myriad of views will be presented on this subject.
Khalilian and other IPCC Executive Board Members will lead these highly interactive sessions. The speakers will provide VoIP success stories and advice on how to confront challenges facing the industry. A sample listing of panel participants will include the following IPCC Member Companies:
