MEC Northwest Receives ISO:9001:2000 certification
Portland, Oregon MEC Northwest, a manufacturer of custom circuit board assemblies, located in Portland, Oregon, received its upgrade of ISO:9001 certification to the 2000 standard.
The certification process was audited by TUV Rheinland.
According to Rick McClain, MEC Northwests General Manager, the certification process involved TUV Rheinland reviewing all internal processes relating to service, delivery and quality.
Going through the upgrade certification process documented by an outside agency gives our customers the assurance that we have the appropriate business processes in place to meet their product quality and service requirements, said McClain.
While MEC Northwest had received its original ISO:9002 certification three years ago, the 2000 upgrade focuses on continuous improvements. The 18,000-square-foot plant was required to review various processes, including shipping, customer service, manufacturing, etc.
Involved in the process were Jack Tanz, Quality Engineer at MEC Northwest as well as Don Sivilloti, Director of Quality for MEC Corporation, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
MEC Northwest is a division of MEC, Milwaukee Electronics Corporation, which designs and manufactures custom circuit board assemblies for the medical, transportation, military, HVAC and a variety of other industries and operates over 90,000 square feet of manufacturing in Portland, Oregon; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Tecate, Mexico. The company, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2004, provides design and assembly work for many blue chip OEMs.
