eOn Communications Creates Contact Center Alliance in China With Solutions Development Firm

eOn Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: EONC), a provider of unified voice, e-mail and web-based communications systems, announced a strategic alliance with Cortelco Shanghai Telecom Equipment Company in China. eOn will utilize Cortelco Shanghai’s vast experience and technical resources in China to develop localized software applications and customized solutions targeted at the rapidly growing contact center market in China and Asia.

Cortelco Shanghai is a proven telecommunications company with significant customer reach throughout Asia. During their 10+ year tenure in China, they have established strong and enduring business relationships, particularly in the carrier market, with such firms as Shanghai Bell, Shandong Netcom, and Sichuan Telecom. Cortelco Shanghai is a leading provider of telecommunications products in China, including fiber optic transmission equipment, data communications systems, and network management software.

“We are very pleased with the reception our eQueue™ solution platform has received in the China market,” said David S. Lee, eOn’s president and chief executive officer. “But we also recognize that the demands of China’s customers are very unique. We believe this alliance with Cortelco Shanghai will provide eOn with the experience and additional resources to customize and rapidly deliver new and advanced contact center solutions to this market.”

eOn Communications and Cortelco Shanghai have held a long-standing relationship dating back to the early 1990’s, when the two companies jointly designed and developed carrier-class equipment that was distributed throughout Mainland China. Cortelco Systems Holding Corporation and eOn Communications are related parties due to the Director level status and significant shareholder positions held in both entities by David Lee. Cortelco Shanghai’s experienced engineers and service organization will assist eOn Communications in developing products that meet the unique requirements of the China market. The firms will immediately begin to apply resources to several new development projects targeted at specific contact center customers and markets in China. These technical resources will also be used to assist with new product development and technical initiatives for customers in North American.

Liu Yuan, President of Cortelco Shanghai stated, “We believe our experience and large customer base will enhance eOn’s overall strategy for delivering fully integrated contact center solutions in China. From our perspective, eOn’s eQueue capabilities are truly unique in the China market and we are excited about the opportunity to work with eOn to further differentiate their products here.”
