Stalker Software Provides Robust Messaging Solution for University of New Mexico
MILL VALLEY, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Dec. 14, 2004 -- CommuniGate Pro Dynamic Cluster Supports Thousands of Users and Provides Reliability for Campus-Wide E-mail Messaging
Stalker Software, Inc., the technology leader in messaging solutions, today announced that the University of New Mexico has deployed CommuniGate Pro Dynamic Cluster to provide powerful and reliable e-mail messaging to thousands of students and faculty. CommuniGate Pro runs over a multi-server configuration to distribute the e-mail traffic and processing load for faster response times. The unique cluster technology also provides automatic server redundancy -- if one server goes down, the software automatically reroutes requests away from that server to a fully-functioning server so that the end-users are not interrupted and downtime is avoided.
Thousands of University of New Mexico students and faculty rely heavily on e-mail for day-to-day correspondence and sharing critical information such as assignments, research and reports. Prior to deploying CommuniGate Pro, the University had relied on freeware solutions that proved to be high-maintenance, problematic and limited the University's ability to provide advanced features to end users. The University required an easy-to-administer, cost-effective solution with the flexibility to support thousands of users.
"After ongoing problems with our home-grown e-mail solution, we made the switch to Stalker's CommuniGate Pro for its high-performance and reliability and Stalker delivered more than we expected," said David Northrop, Open Systems Analyst at the University of New Mexico. "CommuniGate Pro changed e-mail from being a constant problem requiring regular attention to something that 'just works'."
"CommuniGate Pro offers University IT administrators peace of mind by ensuring that their mission critical messaging is no longer in need of constant monitoring," said Ali Liptrot, vice president of sales and marketing for Stalker Software. "And as the use of Real-Time Communications continues to expand on university campuses, IT administrators can easily enable IM, VoIP and video conferencing features with a single, cost-effective solution like CommuniGate Pro."
About CommuniGate Pro Dynamic Cluster
The award-winning CommuniGate Pro integrated-messaging software, combined with Dynamic Cluster architecture, provides 99.999% reliability, high performance and support for virtually unlimited growth. The solution operates as a group of front-end and back-end servers, accessing domain and account data on a shared file system. This multi-level architecture enables load balancing and server redundancy, providing fast performance and availability with no single point of failure. CommuniGate Pro's unique clustering mechanisms allow it to support up to 5,000,000 accounts in the Dynamic Cluster configuration and a virtually unlimited number of accounts in the Super-Cluster configuration.
CommuniGate Pro supports a wide variety of protocols and standards including SMTP/POP/IMAP for e-mail and iCalendar/iTIP/iMIP for calendaring. To meet the advanced functionality requirements of a modern messaging environment, CommuniGate Pro v4.2 also includes built-in Webmail, an LDAP directory, personal Web pages, mailing lists and spam/virus protection. In addition to its robust email messaging capabilities, CommuniGate Pro offers real-time communications such as secure IM, VoIP, video, whiteboarding, desktop and application sharing using Windows Messenger(R) software, or any other client based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) via the built-in SIP based server.
Selected as the Best Messaging Solution at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo 2004, CommuniGate Pro currently runs on more than 30 hardware and operating system combinations including UNIX, Linux, Windows, AS400, mainframes and Mac OS X. On all platforms, the CommuniGate Pro server presents the same interface and uses the same file formats, providing customers with the flexibility to switch or add operating systems in less than an hour.
