Bluesocket Awarded GSA FSS Contract and FIPS 140-2 Certification, Allowing it to market its Wireless LAN Solutions to Government Agencies and Dept. of Defense

BURLINGTON, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Dec. 14, 2004 -- Bluesocket, Inc. (www.bluesocket.com), the leading vendor of products that secure and manage wireless networks (WLANs), today announced that its award-winning family of Wireless Gateways and intrusion protection systems in use at over 900 customer sites, has been awarded a GSA Federal Supply Schedule contract approval and that its Model WG-2100 Wireless Gateway has achieved FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certification.

This contract award authorizes U.S. Federal agencies, the DoD, and state and local government agencies permission to purchase Bluesocket security and management products for the fast-growing Wi-Fi (802.11) wireless LAN market.

Most recently, Bluesocket announced its WG-400 Wireless Gateway, an enterprise-class solution delivering remote administration and management, interoperability and security for wireless LANs operating in remote branch offices; and small to medium workplaces. Bluesocket appliances provide universal authentication, persistent connectivity for roaming users, granular policy enforcement by class of user (i.e., visitor, finance, staff), and a single-box, open system that supports Access Points from any vendor.

Under the GSA Schedule Program, GSA establishes long-term government-wide contracts with commercial firms to provide access to over 4 million commercial services and products that can be ordered directly from GSA Schedule contractors or through the GSA Advantage!(R) online shopping and ordering system.

Bluesocket also announced today that its WG-2100 Wireless Gateway has achieved FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certification from the US Government's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Canadian Government's Communications Security Establishment (CSE). The standard defines security requirements for cryptographic tools used to protect information within IT systems. (Source: http://csrc.nist.gov/cryptval/)

"By successfully obtaining FIPS 140-2 certification and the awarding of a GSA schedule contract, Bluesocket becomes one of the first wireless LAN vendors to have earned both of these privileges and qualifications, allowing us access to thousands of U.S. government agencies at both the state and national levels," said Bob Darabant, Bluesocket VP of Sales.
