Venetian Resort Hotel Casino Selects Xybernaut Wearable Computers for Guest Services and Employee Security

FAIRFAX, Va. & LAS VEGAS --(Business Wire)-- Dec. 13, 2004 -- Xybernaut Atigo(R) Mobile/Wearable Computers Deliver Flexible Platform for Variety of Critical Daily Business Operations

Xybernaut(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:XYBR) today announced that The Venetian(R) Resort Hotel Casino has purchased and deployed Xybernaut solutions services and mobile/wearable computing technologies for a variety of guest services and employee security applications.

The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, which is an anchor property on the renowned Las Vegas Strip, is recognized as one of the premier destinations in Las Vegas for luxury lodging, world-class dining, fine art, entertainment, gaming and leisure. The Venetian boasts more than 4,000 guest suites and perhaps the most accommodating high-end shopping experience in Las Vegas with nearly 100 upscale retail affiliates housed in The Venetian's Grand Canal Shoppes -- an indoor walk-through shopping rotunda.

Venetian guest service and security agents are using Xybernaut Atigo(R) computers as part of a wireless/mobile information technology system that compliments existing computing systems for information sharing, asset (baggage) tracking, knowledge management and enterprise security.

Xybernaut Atigo technologies support a wide variety of critical daily operations and were deployed to enhance guest experience and satisfaction through more active management of critical business information. In addition to the guest services operations, Xybernaut technologies are also used in one of the resort's most important functions -- site and staff security.

The relationship between Xybernaut and The Venetian began in early 2003 when a pilot program was initiated to test various technologies for future use in the resort's information technology architecture. With mobile and wireless computing as a focal point for the systems evolution, Venetian IT executives were looking for flexibility, durability and ease-of-use.

Over a 16-month period, The Venetian purchased, deployed and evaluated Xybernaut products and solution services to assess functionality, ergonomics and the best manner in which to integrate Xybernaut technologies into their daily operations.

"Our initial pilot study indicated that many of our fundamental business operations could be enhanced greatly with a truly mobile computing platform," stated Jack Braman, vice president, Information Technology for The Venetian. "Two areas quickly emerged as the best candidates for Xybernaut technologies and solutions -- guest services and security. In refining our analysis further, our IT executives and technical teams agreed that, under guest services category, baggage routing and tracking would be the first area of focus; and, under the category of security, employee/staff check-in would be another good match for the technologies. We also continue to evaluate the technology for additional uses such as high-end 'player' assistance in the casino, queue busting/mobile check-in at our front desk and registration areas, as well as a management and tracking tool for our maintenance staff," added Drew Courtney, special projects coordinator, Information Technology, The Venetian.

Automating baggage handling processes and employee security at The Venetian are good examples of how Xybernaut technologies can make a significant difference in staff awareness and overall enterprise productivity. Providing access to critical data, when and where Venetian team members most need it, without the tethers of a fixed workstation, enhances both customer service and hotel efficiency.

"In essence, the fundamental goal of our efforts with The Venetian is to help them understand and adapt quickly to the needs of its guests. Something like ensuring that luggage arrives in a guest suite in a timely manner might seem trivial, however, when you realize that The Venetian handles an average of more than 3,000 pieces of luggage per day -- more than most airports in the U.S. -- challenges quickly emerge," stated Steven A. Newman, Xybernaut president and COO. "Our task is now to understand additional areas in which our technologies and solution services can work seamlessly with existing and planned elements of The Venetian's IT architecture."

The Xybernaut-Venetian solutions work by equipping guest service and security representatives with mobile/ wearable computers (Atigo M and Atigo T) configured with wireless network connectivity. The devices are equipped with full-color touch screen enabled flat panel displays (FPD), with USB, PCMCIA, and CompactFlash ports as well as support Bluetooth(R) capabilities. These devices are directly integrated with Venetian enterprise applications and software.
