While Olympic(R) medal hopes may be over for men's beach volleyball player Dain Blanton, American women have given him the gold. That's according to a new survey conducted by Opinion Research Corporation for love.com(R) in which 33 percent of American women selected Blanton as their dream date. Meanwhile, 34 percent of American men chose beach volleyball maven Misty May as the Olympian they would most like to date.

Among male athletes, American women also favored tennis player Andy Roddick (23 percent) and swimmer Klete Keller (21 percent), awarding them the silver and bronze medals in the "fantasy date" competition. Swimmers Natalie Coughlin (27 percent) and Amanda Beard (23 percent) round out the top three for American men.

In the love.com national survey, American men and women also weighed in on which Olympic game features athletes they'd most like to date. Male swimmers (21 percent) and female gymnasts (24 percent) were considered most date-worthy, easily taking home the gold. Among male athletes, soccer players (11 percent) and gymnasts (10 percent) were next in line, receiving silver and bronze nods from American women, while female swimmers (15 percent) and volleyball players (13 percent) received second and third honors from American men.
