United Press International and The Sports Network Now Partners on Sports News Content

HATBORO, Pa., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- United Press International today announced that it has partnered with The Sports Network to provide sports scores and information to media, interactive, and corporate subscribers.
The Sports Network content complements UPI's existing coverage of international news, features, analysis and commentary and allows UPI to offer a wider range of international sports coverage and more in-depth, real-time sports data.
As part of the agreement, UPI will represent a variety of sports content produced by The Sports Network, including NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, collegiate basketball and football, golf, soccer (both domestic and international), tennis, NASCAR, Formula 1, and Olympics coverage. Content will take the form of real-time scores and scoreboards, game action, statistics, rankings, and updates on athletes' performances.

"We are thrilled to represent content from such an established provider," said Bill Creighton, Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing for UPI. "As our subscriber base expands internationally we have responded to the need for more in-depth global coverage. We will build on this partnership to develop special packages and new sports-oriented products and services that meet the needs of our clients."
"The addition of UPI to our continually growing roster of clients is a perfect example of a well-renowned and internationally regarded news wire service seeking to furnish the most expansive product possible for its own client base," said Ken Zajac, Director of Sales for The Sports Network. "They saw in us the opportunity to offer new and creative sports packages that they could present to their clients. We look forward to exploring these new opportunities with UPI, fully advantaging their present and long range interest in thinking `out of the box,' a rare and pleasant experience in today's competitive environment among international news wire services."
