Telica Announces CommPartners as PLUS Softswitch Customer; Leading VoIP Facilitator Selects Telica's Second Generation Softswitch for Nationwide VoIP Network

MARLBORO, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 2, 2004 -- Telica, Inc., an innovator in next-generation VoIP switching, announced today that CommPartners, a leading VoIP facilitator providing IP telephony services and connectivity to service providers, has selected the company's second generation PLUS(TM) Softswitch as the cornerstone of its nationwide VoIP network.

Nevada-based CommPartners offers local service providers (broadband, wireless, and wireline), carriers, and high volume call centers a turnkey solution for delivering VoIP phone service to their broadband customers including Subscriber Endpoint Control, PSTN Interconnect, Subscriber Management, and Domestic/International Long Distance.

After careful evaluation, CommPartners chose the Telica PLUS solution because it offered the scalability necessary to enable them to execute a nationwide network buildout. Other key selection factors included the solution's application diversity and deployment flexibility offering easy expansion to multiple cities with a single point of control.

CommPartners' deployment of the four initial Telica softswitches will be at strategic SuperPOP sites along with border control devices, feature servers and routers to offer Class 4 and Class 5 switching and enhanced VoIP services.

"We are excited to be implementing the Telica solution as the centerpiece of our proprietary nationwide network," said Patrick J. Chicas, chief technical officer of CommPartners, "Telica met or exceeded our triple criteria of price point, robust technology, and geographical scalability, and we look forward to working with them to provide unparalleled quality and reliability in PSTN interconnection and VoIP services to our service provider customers."

Using the low cost per port afforded by Telica's high-density solution, CommPartners is positioning itself to be the least cost provider of VoIP services and PSTN interconnection at service launch in mid-2005.

"For CommPartners to quickly build such an advanced network is a testament to Telica's VoIP products and open protocol support, allowing them to rapidly assemble best-in-class solutions that provide one seamless network," said Bryan Sheppeck, vice president of sales for Telica.

Telica's PLUS Compact Softswitch is a second-generation, carrier-grade softswitch solution that provides unprecedented scalability, reliability and deployment flexibility to service providers along with a rich mix of legacy TDM, next-generation packet, Class 4, Class 5, wireline and wireless services. The PLUS second-generation softswitch solution can support 7.5 million calls per hour and contains more than one terabyte of memory to sustain complex database and routing requirements.
