DUBLIN, Ireland --(Business Wire)-- April 29, 2004 -- Nanotechnology in Holland/Belgium Analysed

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com) has announced the addition of Nanotechnology in Holland/Belgium to their offering.

A considerable number of policies have been decentralised to the level of the Flanders and Walloon governments in Belgium, including a science and technology policy. Wallonia has committed 13 million euros to its Programme Nano spread over seven major research projects. Flanders support region nano-related research at centers such as Imec, one of the most internationally renowned microelectronics centres and networking is encouraged across multiple centers of excellence.



Main Dutch activities in nanotechnology include the national nanotechnology research consortium NanoNed, and its first major programme NanoImpuls. Since October 2000, a number of small companies active in development and commercialization of micro and nanotechnologies have formed Minac, the Micro and Nano Cluster. Several interdisciplinary research centres are active in nanotechnology in or related to Dutch universities. The most important are Biomade, Dimes and Mesa+.
