DTE Energy Chooses DataFlux to Streamline Data Management Efforts; DataFlux dfPower Studio to help inspect, correct and integrate data during ERP implementation

CARY, N.C. --(Business Wire)-- April 26, 2004 -- DataFlux(R) Corporation, a leading provider of data management solutions that increase the consistency, accuracy and reliability of enterprise data assets, today announced that DTE Energy has selected DataFlux to power a data cleansing initiative in support of a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation. DTE Energy will utilize dfPower(R) Studio to analyze, cleanse, standardize, validate and integrate data from numerous sources before loading the information into the company's ERP and work management systems.

Detroit-based DTE Energy has multiple legacy systems on a number of different platforms, each containing information on customers, corporate assets and inventory. DTE Energy will use DataFlux's data profiling techniques to assess the quality of the existing data at the source. After analyzing the data, the company can use dfPower Studio to build and implement rules to resolve data quality issues.

"DTE Energy has a large number of data sources, and we need a data management solution that can profile data to help us decide the best way to remedy problems," said Lynne Ellyn, senior vice president and CIO for DTE Energy. "dfPower Studio can inspect a wide array of databases on different platforms, and the technology allows us to drill-down to view specific records that contain inconsistent, inaccurate or unreliable data."

dfPower Studio, a GUI-based data management solution, allows both business and IT employees to inspect, correct, integrate and enhance corporate data through an intuitive, easy-to-use interface. In addition, a stand-alone application provided in concert with dfPower Studio allows business users to view possible duplicate records and establish rules to eliminate or consolidate records during the data integration process.

"One of the most common reasons that enterprise-wide implementations fail is the lack of usable and accurate data that serves as the foundation of these systems," said Tony Fisher, president and general manager of DataFlux. "Often, the movement of data from dozens of sources can compound existing data quality issues and create widespread problems for new enterprise applications. Good data can help companies make better decisions, and we look forward to working with DTE Energy to improve the quality of their information assets."
