Kanguru Solutions Teams with Panasonic to Provide Unique Storage Solution for Video Security Systems
MILLIS, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- April 20, 2004 -- Kanguru Solutions, a leading provider of data storage solutions, announced today that it has established a relationship with Panasonic Security Systems to offer a unique data storage solution for Panasonic's new WJ-HD300 DVR Series and Hybrid Recording Server.
"This is truly exciting for Kanguru Solutions to team up with Panasonic, a world class leader in the security industry. This relationship will leverage the uniqueness of the KanguruDisk and Kanguru DataBank with the proven quality of Panasonic Security Systems products, specifically the WJ-HD300 DVR Series and Hybrid Recording Server," said Nate Cote, vice president of product management at Kanguru Solutions.
The Kanguru Databank, a patent-pending, scalable USB2.0 storage tower, offers 2, 4 or 8 bay options for housing ruggedized KanguruDisks. KanguruDisks are hybrid internal/external hard drives capable of storing massive amounts of video data. Each KanguruDisk is available in 40 to 300+GB capacities that can be easily removed for safe storing off-site, or for viewing historical security data on other workstations. With KanguruDisks inserted, each DataBank tower offers 2TB+ of hotswappable storage.
"The Kanguru DataBank and KanguruDisk allow users to quickly access information by using proven hard drive technology. This information can be easily transported in a secure and ruggedized manner, and it can all be done at a fraction of the cost of existing methodologies such as traditional tape or network storage devices," said Cote.
The KanguruData Bank connects via USB2.0 and offers plug and play ability with little or no need for special configurations to connect it to a network. Once the Kanguru DataBank is set up, KanguruDisks can be inserted or removed at the user's discretion. When additional storage is required, KanguruDisks can be inserted into the drive bays. The existing units can be archived for years, or erased when the information is no longer needed - and the drives can be reused!
"This relationship was recently unveiled at the ISC West 2004 convention and the industry response to the technology advantages possible through this relationship was overwhelming based on feedback we received. Convergence between IT/Storage and Security is here," said Cote.
