Fauske & Associates Inc. Release New Reactivity Management Software for Use in the Chemical Industry

BURR RIDGE, Ill. --(Business Wire)-- April 19, 2004 -- New software helps reduce the frequency and consequences of runaway reaction-generated accidents

Fauske & Associates, Inc. (FAI), a world leader in the field of process safety management to the chemical and nuclear industries, today announced the release of its latest Reactivity Management Software (RMS) for the design of relief systems and effluent control.

RMS, a MS Windows-based software program, allows users to quickly and easily design safety systems that assess a runaway chemical reaction and to determine the best and safest relief-venting method. The design of emergency venting requirements for vapor, gassy and hybrid systems can be made based on the Design Institute for Emergency Relief Systems (DIERS) two-phase flow methodology and its extensions. The RMS also includes a deflagration vent sizing module applicable to both low and high pressure venting consistent with latest NFPA-68 recommendations.

Other features of RMS include a user-friendly interface, benchmarking against actual data and the ability to perform sensitivity analyses. The software's design methodology also fully complies with the Occupational Safety and Health Agency's regulation OSHA-29 CFR 1910.119 PSM.

"The design of methods and systems that help keep the process of reactive-chemistry safe by preventing accidents is an essential part of FAI's business," said Kris Fauske, FAI's vice-president of operations and chemical systems. "We are pleased to be able to offer our customers a new, cost-effective, software solution that can help them design emergency relief systems, fully compliant with current OSHA regulations."
