Alcatel Delivers IP Service Router for New TeliaSonera Network

DALLAS, April 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alcatel today announced that TeliaSonera, the leading incumbent communications service provider in the Nordic and Baltic regions, will build its next generation metropolitan networks based on the Alcatel service routing solution.

By using the Alcatel solution, TeliaSonera can offer a full range of services from a single Internet Protocol/MultiProtocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS)-based network. It also can introduce new high-value services such as IP virtual private networks (VPNs), virtual private LAN services (VPLS), virtual leased line (VLL), enhanced Internet and a variety of video, conferencing, and advanced multimedia applications.

This reduces the cost of delivering service level agreements and maximizes network utilization.
Other features ensure that TeliaSonera maximizes revenue for every router that it deploys. The service router technology provides a scalable and innovative, service-oriented operations toolkit for advanced provisioning and assurance of IP VPNs, VPLS, VLL, and enhanced Internet services.
