Matsushita Comments on Media Report about Unification of the Company's Brand

OSAKA, Japan --(Business Wire)-- April 19, 2004 -- On April 17, 2004, several newspapers in Japan reported about the unification of brands and certain marketing departments of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (MEI) (NYSE: MC) and Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd. (MEW).



These reports are based on conjecture by the media, and not on any official announcements by MEI or MEW.

The two companies are currently reviewing reports submitted by a joint Collaboration Committee in regards to these and other issues, but have not yet made any final decisions. MEI and MEW intend to announce the results of such reviews when final decisions are made.
