TCS PROVIDES HIGH-SPEED REDUNDANT INTERNET CONNECTIVITY TO BAHRAIN TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a global leader in wireless data technology, recently completed deployment of a high-speed, redundant international satellite connection between the U.S. Internet and Bahrain. Commercial voice and data traffic is being transmitted to and from Bahrain via one of TCS’ International Gateway Facility (IGF) teleport earth stations in Manassas, Virginia, providing an essential link to conduct business in the region.“TCS’ satellite-based network infrastructure offers the ability to rapidly transmit high volumes of data to meet the increasing demands of the Bahrain business and private communities,” commented Steve Anspach, Vice President for TCS Network Solutions Group. “We are excited about this new market space and have delivered a solution of great magnitude in record time - 30 days from contract execution to network operability with live traffic.” TCS’ Network Solutions Group provided the design, hardware and integration services necessary to establish satellite connectivity to Bahrain. TCS’ IGF provides direct Tier 1 connectivity to the Internet physically located in the United States and essential links to the international Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) backbone in Europe, allowing high quality and responsive Internet access and voice services for customers in the Bahrain region. The architecture consists of all the components required to provide a state-of-the-art turnkey data and voice communications network including Integrated Services Digital Network Primary Rate Interfaces (ISDN PRIs) and Internet Data Services provisioned for the United States and Europe. Technical support is centralized in TCS’ Network Operations Center (NOC) that provides Monitor & Control (M&C) functions for various terrestrial and Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) networks via a Network Management System (NMS). |
