Troux Technologies Joins DCML Organization; Troux Reference Model Fully Supports DCML Specification

AUSTIN, Texas --(Business Wire)-- April 12, 2004 -- Troux(TM) Technologies, the leading provider of strategic IT management (ITM) software, today announced that it has joined the Data Center Markup Language (DCML) Organization. The DCML Organization is an industry wide collaborative effort, chartered with driving the DCML specification -- the first vendor neutral standard to bring IT system interoperability and utility computing to data centers. In addition to joining the organization, Troux will fully support DCML in the Troux Reference Model(TM).

The Troux Reference Model provides a language that describes all components of enterprise architecture, including business processes, and the relationships between those components. DCML is the first standard that uses a common language for describing disparate hardware and software components within the data center. The DCML specification integrates naturally into the Troux Reference Model.

We joined DCML to participate in their efforts to develop an industry-standard specification, said Bill Cason, chief architect for Troux. Further, we are supporting DCML in the Troux Reference Model and Troux 4 platform, so that customers adopting DCML can use our strategic IT management solutions for initiatives such as infrastructure management, risk management and compliance, and business value management.

The lack of standards in today's data center environment has resulted in poor service quality, limited visibility into current data center operations, and higher costs for IT organizations. By joining other industry leaders in the areas of data center automation, systems management, monitoring and metering, outsourcing, Troux will drive efforts to reduce the complexity and cost associated with managing the various systems within a data center today.

Troux's leading IT management platform addresses the issues of complexity, value and cost in enterprise architecture, so participating in DCML is a natural strategic alignment. The Troux platform automatically generates a complete baseline of all components within an entire IT infrastructure, and aligns those components with business processes to support strategic IT governance in key areas, such as enterprise architecture management, business continuity planning, regulatory compliance, change management, and IT financial management.

DCML has garnered industry acclaim as the necessary precursor for managing the complexities of data center management and providing the foundation for realizing the promise of automation and utility computing -- a rapidly emerging approach that will simplify and reduce the cost of enterprise computing.

About The DCML Organization

The DCML Organization is an open, independent, vendor neutral, non-profit corporation formed to create an open, freely licensed specification, Data Center Markup Language (DCML), and to encourage its broad adoption. DCML is the first standard that provides a structured model and encoding to describe, construct, replicate and recover data center environments and elements. DCML is designed to provide a mechanism to enable data center automation, utility computing and system management solutions to exchange information about the environment to make utility computing a reality. In addition to developing specifications, the organization intends to work with formal standards bodies, enable and administer certification and compliance programs, and perform user and market education.
