SMC Networks Enhances TigerSwitch 10/100/1000 Managed Switch

SMC Networks, a provider of networking solutions for the Enterprise, the SMB and all the way home, announced that it has enhanced its popular Gigabit backbone switch, the TigerSwitch 10/100/1000 Managed Switch (SMC8624T). The newly-enriched SMC8624T is available immediately.

The new SMC8624T switch has 24 fixed 10/100/1000 ports, four of which can be upgraded with optional mini GBIC expansion slots for fiber connections. Compact and efficient, despite its high port count and advanced features, the SMC8624T is the ideal solution for any enterprise workgroup or backbone switching application. At its best in challenging, high-traffic environments, the SMC8624T races ahead of the pack to move data at speeds up to 48Gps; up to 9K in jumbo frame support mode.

The TigerSwitch SMC8624T not only delivers high performance, its loaded with advanced features that demanding environments need. Now, in addition to RADIUS, 802.1x, SSH and SSL for security, the newly-upgraded switch offers complete Layer2/3/4 switching with traffic prioritization, including DSCP-based COS and TCP/UDP Port-based COS, as well as port and protocol-based VLANs. For more powerful management applications, this TigerSwitch also offers rate limiting, Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) and Access Control List (ACL)all configurable through an intuitively-designed Command Line Interface (CLI). Built for robust workgroup and backbone switching today, the SMC8624T also has the flexibility to allow for upgrades to even more features that will be released in the future, including SNMPv3, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1s) that allows single spanning tree within VLANs, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and SSHv2.

The TigerSwitch SMC8624T was designed to excel in the most demanding networks, and now its even more powerful, said SMC Product Marketing Manager, Jennifer Wu. Were pleased to bring to market the improved SMC8624T with Broadcoms XGS switching solution at the core. We added lots of valuable features, but didnt add to the price. This SMC TigerSwitch is the distinguished and superior choice.
