Telular Corporation Unveils First Dual Band GSM/GPRS Product for the Americas

Telular Corporation today expanded its market-leading portfolio of fixed cellular devices with dual band versions of the popular SX5 GSM/GPRS Phonecell® Fixed Wireless Phone and Fixed Wireless Terminal. Operating in the 850 and 1900 MHz frequency bands, the new products are designed to satisfy demand from residential, SOHO, and enterprise users, combining the freedom of wireless with the reliability and flexibility of the Phonecell® from Telular.

The dual band 850/1900 MHz products are ideal for TDMA operators evolving their networks to GSM and GSM operators expanding their network coverage. The added frequency band enables greater network coverage for the carrier ? resulting in higher customer satisfaction, lower churn and increased revenue opportunities. Supporting popular GSM supplementary services, the Phonecell® SX5 GSM/GPRS products provide users with the convenience of the wireless network in their personal and professional pursuits, while gaining the quality and functionality of the GSM network.

The new dual band product family consists of a fixed cellular desk phone and a fixed cellular terminal with GPRS packet data included with every model. Deskphone configurations provide a range of functionality from wireline-quality voice to analog fax and circuit-switched data. For SOHO and enterprise users, wireless or wireline connectivity alternatives are available, all from a single phone. Similarly, the flexible terminal product offers classic fixed wireless functionality including voice, fax and data. Data modem and Private Branch Exchange (PBX) models are also available.

The new products are currently undergoing type approval at the major GSM carriers in the U.S. and Latin America. The Phonecell® SX5 GSM/GPRS 850/1900 MHz is available for immediate delivery.
