CREDANT And Certicom In Alliance, CREDANT To Resell movianVPN As Component Of CREDANT Mobile Guardian
CREDANT Technologies, a provider of mobile security and management software, announced an alliance with Certicom Corporation that will enable business professionals to use their handheld devices to securely access corporate networks. As part of the agreement, CREDANT Technologies will resell movianVPN as a component of CREDANT Mobile Guardian, the industrys first enterprise-strength mobile security software solution.
The combined solution fulfills two key requirements of CREDANT Technologies market-driven mobile security strategy: 1) to protect the network by ensuring that only authorized users gain access and 2) to extend the security boundary to ensure sensitive data is secured at all timesduring transmission over public networks and when stored locally on the mobile device.
CREDANT Mobile Guardian provides centrally-managed policy administration and strong on-device security enforcement to protect information stored on diverse mobile platforms, stated Carmen Parisi, vice president sales and business development for CREDANT Technologies. Certicoms movianVPN client integrates with leading VPN gateways from market leaders such as Cisco, Netscreen, Nortel and many others to protect all traffic between Palm OS, Windows Mobile and Symbian OS mobile devices and the corporate network, further strengthening the CREDANT offering. The ability to deliver a solution that addresses multiple threats is critical to giving customers the full benefits of mobility without excessive risks.
Once enterprise data is transmitted over a public network, it is outside the control of the secured network perimeter. As the number of wireless devices brought into the workplace increases, so does an organizations risk of legal liability, financial loss and brand damage. Industry analyst firm Gartner predicts that by the year 2007, there will be nearly 120,000 WLAN hot spot gateways worldwide, providing access to networks for over 200 million mobile devices used in business. Gartner also predicts that more than 60 percent of staff in Global 2000 companies will have mobile access to corporate applications and that 40% of corporate data will reside on handheld devices by 2005.
CREDANTs strategy has been to develop a comprehensive mobile security and management platform capable of accommodating the evolving needs of the mobile ecosystem, said Bob Heard, president and CEO of CREDANT Technologies. The ability to offer movianVPN client software as a component of our security and management platform fulfills one more milestone in our overall strategy and is proof of our commitment to provide the most comprehensive mobile security and management platform on the market.
