[December 16, 2003] City of Aurora Adds Wi-Fi to Deliver Vital Public Safety Data and Services More Efficiently The City of Aurora, one of Colorado's largest municipalities, today announced that it is expanding its wireless local area network (WLAN) using solutions from NetMotion Wireless, a market leader in mobility management software, and Wavelink Corporation, a leading provider of mobile infrastructure management software for the enterprise. The joint solution, implemented by Anyware Network Solutions, will expand the wireless network for the City's entire public safety force, unify the City's wireless networks and provide a seamless, secure, easy to manage and scalable WLAN for mobile police and fire units. The City of Aurora selected NetMotion Mobility and Wavelink's WLAN management technology to better arm public safety officials with up-to-date information and ensure that crucial, confidential data such as mug shots, DMV and criminal records could be transferred quickly and securely between Aurora's 300 mobile police and fire units and the municipality's central servers.
