Cernium Installs Perceptrak Behavior Recognition Software In Public Parking Garage In Yonkers
Cernium, Inc., a provider of behavior-recognition software and intelligent video surveillance analysis, announced it has installed its Perceptrak security technology in the first of two public parking garages in Yonkers, New York. Cernium's behavior recognition technology was selected by the Yonkers Parking Authority and the Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront Business Improvement District (BID) to enhance their existing closed circuit television (CCTV) security system.
Cernium's Perceptrak is a proprietary software technology designed for integration with CCTV systems to provide real-time behavior recognition and content analysis. The product analyzes live events that are being monitored by a CCTV system and identifies potentially dangerous or suspicious human behaviors, incidents or objects and alarms security staff at the moment the event is occurring. Perceptrak allows for more accurate and timely detection of suspicious events and is capable of monitoring larger areas without adding additional security personnel.
Mike Dalton, assistant executive director for the Yonkers Parking Authority, remarked "Perceptrak helps our security team to proactively monitor the city's two parking
garages providing a measurable increase of safety and security for our residents and guests." Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront Business Improvement District's executivedirector, Ian Kipp explained, "Perceptrak was the best choice for the increased security needs at our new parking facilities. The City of Yonkers has made great progress in its security preparedness, and Perceptrak has provided us with an ideal solution for striking a balance between cost efficiency and an advanced security system that helps us better protect our citizens and their property."
The first Perceptrak installation for the City of Yonkers is a 40-camera system in a new 615-space Buena Vista Parking Facility in the city's downtown that opened October 24th, 2003. The second is a planned 32-camera system installed in the Government Center garage, both providing increased surveillance, 24/7 monitoring, and significantly enhanced security efficiency.
