Zaniac Launches Two STEM Afterschool Learning Programs to Give Utah Students 21st Century Skills Using Next-Generation Tools

SALT LAKE CITY --(Business Wire)--

Zaniac, an afterschool STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) enrichment program for students in grades K-8, announced today that it will offer two new STEM learning programs, Zaniac 3D Printing and Kerbal Space Program, to its growing list of after-school STEM offerings on October 22,2014.

"The STEM revolution has finally landed in Utah," said Chief Academic Officer Sidharth Oberoi. "Parents and students alike have asked us to offer additional, applicable science and math learning opportunities. We are pleased to be able to meet this growing demand for STEM knowledge through these new programs."

Zaniac 3D Printing introduces students in 4th - 8th grades to the high-tech world of 3D printing through accessible equipment that allows each child to make their own printed creations. Zaniac 3D Printing immerses students in the engineering and design process, as well as modeling techniques that allow them to prototype ideas and inventions.

The Kerbal Space Program offers the ability to explore space and orbital mechanics by launching their own virtual space program and building and testing rockets to complete a series of missions. The program is designed to give students in 5th - 8th grades a strong understanding of physics concepts in an engaging single-player, game environment.

Both programs meet for 90 minutes, once each week for six weeks, and offer low student to instructor ratios (5 to 1).

Oberoi added, "Seeing a small group of students who are building and testing rockets to complete missions or transform their ideas into real prototypes is amazing to watch. Zaniac is excited to offer Utah students in elementary and middle schools these types of fun and memorable STEM learning experiences."
