(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LAST week BlackBerry launched the BlackBerry Q5 in Orlando, United States, a new BlackBerry 10 smartphone.

The company aims to reach out to young consumers in emerging markets, who want the best tools to explore, create and share content without hurting their pockets.

The smartphone is expected to be available beginning July in selected markets.

The company has also announced that BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) will be available to iOS and Android user.

Here are some interesting features of the BlackBerry Q5: BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard and touchscreen The Q5 smartphone features a BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard with discrete keys and a 3.1 inch touchscreen for fast and accurate communication. It also has Instant Action shortcuts to help users perform tasks faster.



BlackBerry Time Shift mode and Story Maker Users can create the picture perfect shot with BlackBerry Time Shift mode, then create and share their story, weaving together photos, videos and music into a movie with BlackBerry Story Maker.

BBM Video with Screen Share Instantly switch BBM chat to a BBM Video conversation. Users can also share their screen, whether it's a photo, a page in the browser, an idea, or a view from their camera.


BlackBerry Hub With BlackBerry Hub, users can swipe to effortlessly flow in and out of their various messages and conversations.

BlackBerry World Gain access to more than 100,000 apps on BlackBerry World, BlackBerry's proprietary appstore.

Nokia's affordable handphones NOKIA is addressing the affordable handphone market with a range of devices that intend to give people the best possible mobile experience.

Nokia 301 The Nokia 301 is a classic candybar handset with 3.5G Internet speeds, a 3.2MP smart camera and a large 2.4-inch screen. The on- board camera supports image capture, as well as editing and sharing capabilities. Users can share photos straight from the gallery onto social networks.

Sharing of photos and other content is also made easy with Slam, a new technology built into the Nokia 301.

Slam works by transferring content, such as images or contact cards, to an adjacent Bluetooth-enabled phone in just a few simple clicks, without the need to pair devices.

For browsing, the phone is supported by the built-in Nokia Xpress Browser. Users can also stream videos from YouTube and access apps like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp directly from the homescreen.

For work purposes, the phone has a "lite" version of Mail for Exchange to check email and sync calendars and contacts on-the-go.

The phone is available in both single and dual SIM models.

Priced at RM289, the phone is available in cyan, yellow, magenta, black and white.

Nokia Asha 501 The Nokia Asha 501 is the first smartphone built on the new Asha platform. The budget lightweight phone, at 98g, has a 3.2MP camera, and promises 17 hours of talk time, 56 hours of music playback and 48 days of standby time on 2G networks.

The phone, which is expected to start shipping next month, has a 3-inch multi-touch screen, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and on- board memory of 4GB, expandable to 32GB.

Many of the most popular applications are already available or in development for the Nokia Asha platform, including CNN, eBuddy, ESPN, Facebook, Foursquare, LinkedIn, Pictelligent, The Weather Channel, Twitter, WeChat and World of Red Bull.

As for games, the platform supports Electronic Arts, Gameloft, Indiagames, Namco Bandai and Reliance Games.

The phone is expected to be available through approximately 60 operators and distributors in more than 90 countries.

Available in bright red, bright green, cyan, yellow, white and black, the phone is expected to be available at a suggested pricing of RM300 before taxes and subsidies.
