xTuple ERP 3.2 Debuts

Feb 02, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
xTuple, a provider of open source enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, said that it is releasing xTuple ERP 3.2, which adds over 300 enhancements developed in direct response to dialogue with customers and within xTuple's online community forum discussions.

The Company said that new functionality for tasks related to customer relationship management (CRM) and manufacturing, new business intelligence (BI) and analytical capabilities and the integration of the Qt Designer graphical developer tool headline the list of enhancements.

"Because xTuple keeps a very active dialogue going with its community of users, partners and developers, we are able to deliver features that meet precise customer specifications and then publicly vet them," said Ned Lilly, President and CEO of xTuple. "The constant interaction with our open source community enables us to very quickly bring to market the features and tweaks that users themselves say they need most urgently, compared with slow-moving Goliaths in the industry that force customers to swallow whatever they are sold."

xTuple ERP is a fully cross-platform open source ERP system. xTuple said the Version 3.2 adds major usability improvements to the suite's fully integrated CRM module (graphical calendar of To-Do items, email and alarm notifications of system events), time-saving consolidated workbenches in the Accounting modules, and a range of much-anticipated enhancements to the Manufacturing module. In cooperation with the open source community, xTuple also enhanced the integrated OpenRPT report writer - adding more sophisticated BI and analytical tools, as well as a greatly improved user interface.

In addition, xTuple ERP now includes a fully integrated copy of the Qt Designer graphical developer tool, the form and screen-building application included with the Qt suite of cross-platform C++ programmer tools from Qt Software, a unit of Nokia Corp. The embedded Designer tool allows power users of xTuple ERP to create new screens, as well as edit existing screens within xTuple, without requiring the added complexity of a separate Qt development environment, the Company said.

"We continue to execute on our twofold strategy of enhancing our core product, while providing ever-more-powerful tools for the open source community to grow with us," noted Lilly. "With PostBooks and OpenRPT as our core free offerings, and the PostgreSQL database and Qt as key enabling technologies, we reaffirm our commitment to growing the preeminent global community of open source ERP professionals."'

xTuple (formerly OpenMFG) develops next-generation, enterprise-class business process applications powered by open source software such as Linux, PostgreSQL, and Qt.
