Xiaomi Tech 2012 Shipped 7.19mn Mobile Phones PossiblyJan 09, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Beijing Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd. shipped 7.19 million mobile phones and received pretax sales value of CNY 12.6 billion in 2012, according to Mr. Li Wanqiang, co-founder of the company. Based on the estimation of sales value and shipments, the average unit price of the mobile phones was about CNY 1,752 in 2012. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun once disclosed in July 2012 that the company shipped 3.2 million mobile phones and received sales value of about CNY 6 billion in the first half of the year, estimating the unit price at about CNY 1,875. The company has been selling its mobile phones via the Internet and the cooperation with operators, and the sales ratio of the two channels was 7:3 in 2012, according to Mr. Li. The shipments of Xiaomi mobile phones sold via the Internet are reckoned to take up 10% of the total shipments of smartphones sold via the same channel in 2013, added Mr. Li. Mr. Li disclosed that the company had no plan to establish brick-and-mortar stores or experience stores and will still focus on online sale in 2013.
