Women in Health Announced as Focus of MedtechVision 2015 Conference

MedtechWomen today announced that registration is now open for MedtechVision 2015, which will focus on Women in Health. The conference will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at the Four Seasons in Palo Alto, Calif. An early registration discount of $200 ends on July 15, 2015.

"Women comprise 80% of healthcare workers and control 80% of healthcare spending in the U.S.," said Deborah Kilpatrick, Ph.D., MedtechWomen co-founder and CEO of Evidation Health. "MedtechVision 2015 is the perfect venue to focus on the dominant provider and purchaser of healthcare for the medtech sector."

MedtechVision 2015 will feature keynotes from Amy Tendrich, tech writer, person with adult onset type 1 diabetes, and founder of Diabetes Mine; and Carolyn Buck Luce, co-author of the Center for Talent Innovation report The Power of the Purse: Engaging Women Decision Makers for Healthy Outcomes. In addition, the event will host more than a dozen distinguished panelists and speakers.

"When we founded MedtechWomen, we knew there was insight to be gained from voices not typically represented on the podium," said Amy Belt Raimundo, co-founder of MedtechWomen and chief business officer of Evidation Health. "When I think back on the first MedtechVision conference in 2011, having 100% women panelists seemed like a radical idea. But now that we consider the new opportunities in healthcare, having the speakers reflect the providers and customers of healthcare seems obvious."

In addition to thetwo keynote addresses, leaders in the medtech industry will discuss the following topics:

  • Reaching the Female Healthcare Consumer
  • Women in Clinical Trials
  • How Does She Do It? CEO Interview with Kim Popovits
  • Investment Opportunities in Women's Health
  • Gender-Specific Practice of Medicine

Conference panelists include executives from the American Heart Association, Abbott, Genomic Health, Outset Medical, Nuelle, Omada Health, Zeltiq, AMA Medical Device Consulting, EXXclaim Capital, Astarte, Venture Valkyrie, nVision, Naia Health, Ella Health, and Butterfly Health.

The Diamond sponsor for the conference is Medtronic, the global leader in medical technology-alleviating pain, restoring health and extending life for millions of people around the world. The sapphire sponsor is Edwards Lifesciences. Additional sponsors include Abbott, Fish & Richardson (News - Alert), Venable LLP, Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton LLP, BioQuest, Lazar Partners Ltd., Longitude Capital, Silicon Valley Bank, and Sprig Consulting.
