William L. Hughes Joins Board of Directors of American Ballet Theatre

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NEW YORK -- William L. Hughes has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the American Ballet Theatre (ABT), America's National Ballet Company and one of the world's foremost international dance companies. Hughes was elected yesterday at ABT's Board meeting held in Manhattan.

Hughes will join a team of top business and community leaders across industries who serve on the ABT Board of Trustees to support the organization in its work to bring leading artistic dance performances and educational programming to audiences of all ages both nationally and internationally.

Hughes is a corporate senior vice president at CA, Inc., and is responsible for media relations, employee communications and corporate philanthropy. He also oversees CA's corporate branding and identity, managing the company's image to clients around the world and works closely with investor relations and government affairs. Hughes joined CA in 2006, and with more than 20 years of experience in high-technology and corporate public relations and marketing, he has worked with some of the most recognizable companies in the world. Prior to CA he held leadership positions in companies such as, IBM, Burson-Marsteller and WeberShandwick Communications.

'The Board is very pleased to welcome such an accomplished communications professional who shares our commitment in supporting artistic excellence and building ABT's future as an enduring cultural institution,' said Rachel Moore, executive director, ABT.

Hughes' involvement with ABT began in 2006 with a corporate contribution from CA. CA's funding supports ABT's Family Initiatives, which include ABTKids performances and pre-performance workshops, programs designed especially for children. ABTKids ignites a passion for live performance by introducing young people to some of the most captivating and exciting ballets - from the classic story ballets to contemporary repertory.

'I am proud to join ABT's very prominent Board of Trustees,' said Hughes. 'The opportunity to work with an iconic American arts institution that represents and brings audiences some of the best performances is truly an honor for me both professionally and personally. I look forward to being a part of this extraordinary organization.' Hughes also serves on the Advisory Board at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina; the Building Committee at The Nathaniel Witherell Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Greenwich, Connecticut; and is a member of several professional organizations including The Arthur Page Society.
