Wavelink Aligns with Vangard Voice Systems(Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Wavelink, a provider of multi-vendor mobile application development and mobile device and infrastructure management software, announced a strategic partnership with Vangard Voice Systems, a supplier of mobile voice technology. The agreement enables Wavelink to extend its voice offering beyond the four walls of warehouse and distribution centers and into cross-industry data collection applications such as mobile field services, sales and mobile inspections, the company said. Wavelink, according to the company, will utilize Vangard Voice Systems AccuSpeechMobile technology to enhance the Wavelink Speakeasy product family. Initially, the technology will deliver text-to-speech and speech-to-text functionality to existing client-resident mobile applications. Currently, Speakeasy enables Wavelink Terminal Emulation and Wavelink Industrial Browser customers to add voice capabilities in a 100 percent client-side, speaker-independent and hardware-independent manner. With the integration of AccuSpeechMobile technology, Wavelink Speakeasy will offer the benefits of voice technology to an array of device-resident mobile applications. Wavelink will also be offering Speakeasy for Wavelink Studio, its widely adopted mobile application development platform at the end of 2008, the company said. "Our partnership with Vangard Voice Systems enables Wavelink enterprise customers to extend the power of voice beyond the warehouse to other mobile applications across the enterprise," said Wavelink President Lamar Van Wagenen. "The introduction of voice-powered, enterprise-wide mobile applications represents the next technology catalyst in Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC), fueling dramatic gains in enterprise-wide productivity." Bob Bova, president and chief executive officer of Vangard Voice Systems, added, "Together with Wavelink, we look forward to advancing the rapid adoption of voice technology across commercial enterprises and government operations. By bringing together Vangard's expertise in voice technology with Wavelink's reputation for industry-leading wireless solutions, the widespread deployment of voice will become even more accessible across a diverse range of industries and vertical markets."
