(Personnel Today Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The World of Learning show, now in its 16th year, is sponsored by GB Training, in association with the British Institute of Learning & Development (BILD) and supported by Personnel Today's sister magazine Training & Coaching Today.
The event will feature a selection of learning solutions and products, ranging from instructor-led training, coaching, blended learning, training venues and management development to e-learning, distance learning, software and HR/learning management systems.
Event senior project manager Andrew Gee says: "The World of Learning has expanded and transformed with the industry, responding not only to economic and market forces but also to technological and cultural developments in learning. The event has become a blend of all aspects of learning and training to fulfil the needs of visitors and the market in general."

The exhibition
For the second year running, the World of Learning exhibition is featuring a series of free educational seminars for visitors to learn about the latest innovations and best practice. Visitors can arrive at the seminar theatre five minutes before the session is due to start to secure a seat.
Headline topics being addressed include '10 tips for better e-learning' 'Learning through comedy and improvisation' 'Exciting and engaging your employees in order to delight your customers - an O2 case study Cross Cultural Collaboration' 'The 'Hollywood' approach to compliance training' and 'Discover the key to delivering successful e-learning'.
Visitors can road-test new products at the Experiential Learning Zone, Serious Games Village and Energiser Zone. A range of learning and training materials and information will also be available in the Learning Library, sponsored by Anglo American Books, as well as enabling visitors to take a welcome break from the busy exhibition floor.
The Networking Caf?, sponsored by TrainingZone.co.uk, will also provide an opportunity to meet exhibitors, colleagues and friends.
The conference
The major feature of the World of Learning 2008 is the conference, which will discuss key issues facing learning and development professionals and look at effective solutions. The case study-led programme will cover key topics of concern to senior-level decision?-makers.
Leading experts and practitioners from blue-chip organisations including IBM, Volkswagen, Cisco, British American Tobacco, KPMG and ITV will be among those providing insights into the latest trends based on their experiences.
Chaired by Rory Cellan-Jones, a presenter on BBC 2's Newsnight and Radio 4's Today programme, the conference will look at innovation in the changing world of learning and development professionals in relation to new and traditional methods, as well as the strategic and implementation issues in the industry.
The World of Learning Awards
The highlight of the learning industry's year is the prestigious World of Learning Awards. In association with the British Institute of Learning & Development and sponsored by Personnel Today, the awards recognise the highest standards of achievement in the industry and will be presented during a black-tie dinner.
They are acknowledged as the premier event for honouring learning-specific solutions. Now in their eighth year, the awards recognise and reward organisations and individuals whose outstanding achievements have improved workplace productivity and performance, the most innovative learning initiatives and the exceptional venues of 2008.
Judged by a group of respected learning and development experts and leading practitioners, the awards include several new categories that reflect the evolution of the learning and development industry. The categories are:

Stand-up comic, writer, presenter, actor, and a regular on Radio 4, Marcus Brigstocke, will present the awards on 19 November at the Paragon Hotel, Birmingham.
More than 500 leading industry figures will enjoy first-class entertainment throughout the evening, and the awards will be followed by dancing into the early hours.
