Waddell & Reed Partners with University of Georgia to Offer Online CFP® Education Program to Its Financial Advisors

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. --(Business Wire)--

Waddell & Reed, Inc., one of the nation's oldest asset management and financial planning firms, recently unveiled a new opportunity for its national network of financial advisors to complete the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) certification. In partnership with the University of Georgia and Greene Consulting, Waddell & Reed is now providing a comprehensive, online CFP® curriculum to its advisors.

In addressing the rigorous process and standards of achieving CFP® certification set by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board), Greene Consulting delivers a comprehensive and interactive educational platform to Waddell & Reed financial advisors through the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business, one of the top business schools in the country. Because this is a CFP Board registered educational program, it fulfills the CFP Board of Standards, Inc. educational requirement to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination - a cooperative arrangement that ensures maximum flexibility and enhanced learning capability to better prepare advisors to eventually become CFP® Professionals.

The self-paced online program is available via Waddell & Reed University, a Web-based learning management system dedicated to the ongoing professional development of the firm's network of approximately 1,800 financial advisors and field leaders.

"One of our highest priorities at Waddell & Reed is fostering a culture of respect for the industry an respect for our clients and their financial aspirations," said Bob Harris, Assistant Vice President of Advisor Training and Education with Waddell & Reed. "We have expectations, as do our clients, for our advisors to provide superior comprehensive financial planning services at the highest level."

Professional designations serve an essential, two-fold purpose: they signal a strong commitment to an advisor's career while representing accomplishment and expertise within the financial community. The CFP® certification is especially important for advisors looking to enhance their value to clients in an increasingly competitive industry.

"CFP® certification is the most recognized financial planning certification in the financial services industry. The comprehensive examination assures the public that an advisor can apply and integrate a client's financial needs in a real-world setting," said CFP Board CEO Kevin R. Keller, CAE. "This initiative puts Waddell & Reed advisors on the pathway to become CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professionals."
