VTech selects Dialog's Green VoIP chip family
Feb 07, 2012 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) --
Power management, audio and wireless technologies provider Dialog Semiconductor plc (FWB:DLG) announced on Tuesday that its low power Green VoIP chip family has been adopted by cordless and corded phones supplier VTech.
No financial details were disclosed.
Under the terms of the partnership, VTech is using Dialog's SC14452 and SC14461 VoIP processors and Rhea software suite to produce a series of VoIP cordless and corded phones, the first of which, the S-series of single and dual-line phone systems, has been designed for the hotel market and went into mass production in Q4 2011.
According to the company, VTech's S-series VoIP phones offer multi-call and multi-handset capabilities, speakerphone functionality, IEEE802.3af power over Ethernet and a USB charging facility, as well as other hotel phone features. In addition, the company's SIP cordless desktop phones incorporate DECT, CAT-iq and DECT 6.0 with an adjustable coverage area to deliver improved clarity and installation management.
The Dialog SC14452 is a VoIP IC with built-in DECT support. It features a 16-bit CompactRISC processor and two user-programmable Gen2DSPs to deliver 240MIPS of computational power. It integrates a 32KHz wideband audio codec, Class D amplifier and PAEC (Perfect Acoustic Echo Canceller) to improve audio clarity.
