VSS Creates Industry's First 10-Gigabit Distributed Traffic Capture Family With Launch of V 4.24 Distributed Filter Tap

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BURLINGAME, CA, November 17 / MARKET WIRE/ --

VSS Monitoring today announced shipment of
the first 10 Gigabit-per-second (Gb/s) Distributed Traffic Capture
System(TM) for network monitoring. The high-speed tap captures data from
any point on a network and feeds it to a central location for analysis,
providing a complete, centralized and scalable view of large networks.

Available now, the V 4.24 Distributed Filter Tap (TM) is a high port capacity tool with
the ability to selectively aggregate and filter traffic to optimize the use
of network monitoring devices. Additional 10 Gb/s distributed traffic
capture taps with a range of capacity and speed combinations for different
network environments will be available later this year from VSS Monitoring.

The addition of the 10 Gb/s devices to VSS Monitoring's existing product
set creates the industry's most flexible array of traffic-capture
solutions, able to deploy on almost any network topology and
cost-effectively scale to any network size.

"Lack of network visibility impacts user productivity, causes lost revenue
opportunities and increases IT costs," said Bojan Simic, Research Analyst,
Network and Application Performance Management, Aberdeen Group.
"Distributed traffic capture technology represents the first cost-scalable
solution for monitoring of large networks. Only a highly flexible system of
distributed traffic capture taps can provide the tight coupling to the
network infrastructure necessary for total network visibility."

Deployments of 10 Gb/s networks are reaching pervasive deployment levels in
large enterprises and telecommunications companies, driven by increased
data traffic and by the rapid growth of bandwidth-intensive applications
such as remote access, wireless, VoIP, IPTV, over-the-top or
broadband-based video, and cloud computing.

"You can't monitor what you can't see," said Terence M. Breslin, VSS
Monitoring's CEO. "The only way to ensure proactive control of the network
and meet regulatory requirements and ROI objectives is with the complete
visibility provided by distributed traffic capture."

A graphical user interface provides a straightforward means to manage the V
4.24 Distributed Filter Tap remotely or locally. It gives users a quick way
to select pre-defined filters and to build custom ones, allowing them to
choose from context-sensitive fields and pick lists, as well as letting
them enter conditional expressions directly. The user interface employs
HTTPS to ensure that the connection to the tap is encrypted.

VSS offers the largest number of traffic capture devices, with almost 150
aggregation and replicator taps, span port capture devices and network
taps. Like other VSS Distributed Traffic Capture Systems, the V 4.24

Distributed Filter Tap is designed for large, complex networks whose
managers face ever greater performance demands, higher threat levels, and
legally mandated security and compliance requirements.

The V 4.24 Distributed Filter Tap is available worldwide from VSS
Monitoring's channel partners. In addition, VSS Monitoring systems are
offered by many network analyzer vendors as part of a network management
solution. Users should contact VSS Monitoring for further information,
including demos, pricing and local resellers.
