Vormetric, Inc., the leader in enterprise
encryption and key
management, today announced that Vormetric Encryption supports
Intel (News - Alert)® Advanced Encryption Standard New Instructions (Intel® AES-NI)
on-chip technology for faster execution of compute intensive
encryption/decryption operations. Composed of a set of new instructions
on the Intel® Xeon® processors, Intel® AES-NI delivers faster, more
affordable data protection and greater security, making pervasive
encryption possible in applications where it was previously unfeasible.
Vormetric is the first encryption vendor to support Intel® AES-NI for
protecting both structured and unstructured data across all leading
database platforms and operating systems with benchmarks showing less
than 2% performance overhead for transactional workloads on Intel®
AES-NI capable platforms.
Vormetric supports Intel® AES-NI for IBM DB2, Microsoft (News - Alert) SQL Server,
Oracle, Informix, MySQL and other databases running on Linux and
Microsoft Windows. Vormetric Encryption works in mixed environments that
include servers with and without AES-NI. It automatically checks or the
presence of Intel AES-NI technology on a server's CPUs and uses the
AES-NI instructions to secure data without impacting application and
database response times.
"We are pleased that Vormetric is delivering innovative solutions based
on Intel AES-NI," said Paresh Pattani, Director, Data Center Computing,
Intel Corporation. "The combination of Vormetric Encryption and the
hardware-accelerated encryption built into the Intel® Xeon® processors
enables customers to achieve superior encryption performance in the most
demanding application environments."
"Encryption is a core and critical component within a layered approach
to data protection in physical, virtual and cloud environments," said
Ashvin Kamaraju, vice president of product development for Vormetric.
"With the increasing volume and types of data that organizations need to
encrypt, the integration of Intel AES-NI on-chip technology with
Vormetric Encryption frees up CPU cycles to process more data more
quickly across all database platforms and operating systems."
Enterprise Encryption Solutions
Vormetric Data
Security enables enterprises to implement strong encryption and key
management to protect structured and unstructured data where ever it
