[February 10, 2010] Victorian ESTA to procure core network services Tweet Feb 10, 2010 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- The Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority, or ESTA, of Victoria has issued a tender to procure core network services for integrating four of its major sites. According to The Tenders VIC, the core network services deal will include provision of a data platform between ESTA's four major sites, World Trade Center, Tally Ho, Ballarat and Support Office through a managed service. The data platform will include optical fiber links and edge devices within ESTA's access network. The Computerworld Australia report states that the core network links all the organization's emergency call taking and dispatch centers, a training facility and a central support office and allows secure transfer of data between centers and synchronizes its computer aided dispatch databases. According to The Computerworld Australia, the ESTA documents state that its sites are currently connected through a fully redundant VPN utilizing Telstra's IP Core Optical Fiber infrastructure. It further states: "Since commissioning the current core network, there has been significant growth in the complexity and volume of traffic across the ESTA network. This, combined with increased reliance on the network to provide mission critical services, has identified a need to change the network services delivery model."
