The Vermont Country Store Selects CommercialWare for Cross-Channel Retail Solution; Software Suite Enhances Retailer's Customer Service and Business Intelligence with Real-Time, Cross-Channel Integration

NATICK, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Dec. 19, 2005 -- CommercialWare Inc., the leading provider of cross-channel commerce solutions for retailers, today announced that The Vermont Country Store (www.vermontcountrystore.com), purveyors of the practical and hard-to-find goods, has chosen CommercialWare as the solution for its infrastructure operations across its catalogue, retail stores, and web site.

With a need to modernize operations and an eye to long-term growth, the 60-year-old enterprise selected CommercialWare's suite of retail products as the software to drive the store's multi-channel business. Over the next six months, The Vermont Country Store will retire the current legacy application, in favor of CommercialWare's CWDirect, CWStore, CWData, CWAnalytics, CWLocate, CWIntegrate, and CWValueCard integrated, real-time retail management system.

The new system is scalable, with deep functionality to let The Vermont Country Store meet the growing demand for its products. One favorite feature of the CommercialWare suite is the user interface that easily lets the customer service representative view all customer data, link to shipping information, track customer purchases, and in real-time check inventory of a specific item.

With the implementation of CommercialWare, the call center will also be able to improve cross-sell and up-sell opportunities to the customer based on previous purchases and requests for items. Additionally, with the integration of the order management system with store operations, The Vermont Country Store will be able to track customer buying habits across all its channels.

In addition to CWDirect for order-management and CWStore as the store's point of sale solution, The Vermont Country store will use CommercialWare's newest offering, CWValueCard, a client-branded gift card to give customers cards that are instantly redeemable across every retail channel - catalogue, web, and retail.

"For more than half a century, we've delivered unique products to customers who crave the service of a local, country store," said Bill Shouldice, President and CEO, of The Vermont Country Store. "With the real-time information delivered by CWDirect and CWStore at the center of our operations, we can be certain that we will know our customers and can deliver on the trust that they place in us."

Today, a significant portion of The Vermont Country Store's business is done through its catalogue and web operations with a percentage of sales attributed to the unique destination stores in Weston and Rockingham, Vermont.

"The Vermont Country Store and CommercialWare share a belief in the lifetime value of a customer and a passion for delivering outstanding service," said Donny Askin, founder and CEO of CommercialWare. "CommercialWare's suite of products, gives The Vermont Country Store the power to centralize customer and inventory data, track orders and inquiries, and analyze the business trends to meet current and future customer demands. We look forward to working with them and helping to ensure their future growth."
