Verizon to bring 4G LTE Network to Bennington and Rutland, Vermont

Jul 13, 2012 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- US wireless communications services company Verizon Wireless announced on Thursday that it will bring its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to Bennington and Rutland and 16 additional communities throughout Vermont, in the coming weeks.

The company introduced its 4G LTE service in Burlington and Northern Vermont two months ago.

When Verizon expands its 4G LTE network it will be available in the communities of Arlington, Bennington, Brandon, Castleton, Clarendon, East Dorset, Killington, Manchester, Mendon, Peru, Pittsford , Poultney, Pownal, Rutland, Shaftsbury, Sunderland, West Rutland and Winhall in Vermont.

The company's 4G LTE network is currently available in Burlington and more than 30 additional communities throughout Northern Vermont, as well as popular destinations including Bromley Mountain Resort, Burke Mountain Resort, Jay Peak Resort, Magic Mountain Ski Resort , Mount Snow Resort , Okemo Mountain Resort, Smugglers' Notch Resort , Stowe Mountain Resort and Stratton Mountain Resort.

Also, residents in the newly expanded 4G LTE coverage area in Vermont will have access to Verizon's HomeFusion Broadband, a high-speed Internet service inside the home, connecting nearly two-dozen devices to the Internet via its 4G LTE network.

As of 21 June 2012, Verizon said that its 4G LTE network is available to more than two-thirds of the US population in 304 markets, including all six New England states.

Verizon's customers with compatible 4G LTE devices can now experience speeds up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G. In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon's 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

In addition, Verizon's customers can choose from a large selection of 4G LTE devices, ranging from tablets, mobile hotspots, smartphones and more. Verizon also offers a variety of smart accessories, including the FitBit Ultra Wireless Activity Tracker and the Withings WiFi Scale, for customers to use with their 4G LTE devices.

Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) (Nasdaq:VZ) and Vodafone (LSE: VOD) (Nasdaq:VOD).
