V100 ultra-light hybrid Notebook/Tablet PC introduced by GETAC

(Worldwide Computer Products News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
GETAC Inc, a specialist rugged mobile computer manufacturer and a
subsidiary company of MiTAC Technology Corporation, announced on
Wednesday (10 September) its new V100 ultra-light hybrid
Notebook/Tablet PC with advanced Sunlight Readable Technology.

According to the company, the GETAC V100 features an LCD screen that
transforms from a notebook into a tablet PC, as well as a
Sunlight-Readable LCD display of 1200cd/msq, the highest in the
industry. The new display, illuminated by LEDs, is able to achieve the
higher brightness without putting a strain on the computer's
performance or battery life. In addition, the company's Sunlight
Readable Technology uses an active anti-reflective process to block
reflected light, increasing visibility.

The company also said it plans to apply its advanced Sunlight Readable
Technology across its entire products lines.

The new product is reportedly compliant with MIL-STD 810F and IP54
standards, making it capable of withstanding heavy rain and spillages,
and is immune to damage from airborne dust and debris. The removable
hard drive is shielded by a protection mechanism to prevent damage
during operation. It also includes anti-vibration rubber, which serves
as a shock absorber during transport, and anti-shock housing to further

protect if bumped or dropped. In addition, a specifically designed
optional HDD heater combined with low temperature battery means that
the V100 will continue to work in temperatures down to -20deg C.

The V100 weighs 2.2kg and features: an ultra-quiet fan-less design; a
10.4" screen; power-saving Intel Core 2 Duo 1.2GHz processor; up to 2GB
of DRAM; up to 250GB removable hard drive; Integrated Bluetooth;
reversible waterproof camera; and a full menu of wireless networking
capabilities. In addition, it offers a variety of upgrade options,
including a 12" LCD screen, as well as optional integrated GPS, 3G and
802.11a/b/g functionality, the company said.

No pricing details were disclosed.
