It covers methods of treating cancer using adenoviruses that are modified to selectively replicate in cancer cells that have activated Ras pathway.

OPKO Health Inc., of Miami, was issued a patent covering methods related to the use and administration of small interfering RNAs for targeting vascular endothelial growth factor, including the company's siRNA drug candidate, bevasiranib, in Phase III studies in wet age-related macular degeneration.

Santarus Inc., of San Diego, received a notice of allowance for a patent covering methods for treating acid-caused gastrointestinal disorders by administering a solid pharmaceutical composition comprising nonenteric-coated omeprazole and certain antacids.
Sirtris Pharmaceuticals Inc., of Cambridge, Mass., was issued a patent covering a broad class of compounds that activate the SIRT1 enzyme.
