U.S. Foodservice Streator Division Supports Tornado Relief EffortsJun 10, 2010 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- The Streator division of U.S. Foodservice (http://www.usfoodservice.com) (USF) will donate all food and supplies needed to hold two Tornado Relief Fundraisers in Streator and Dwight Illinois. Thursday, June 10, from 4 - 7:30 p.m.: The Streator Knights of Columbus will host a dinner at the Streator K of C, 806 Oakley Avenue, Streator, Ill. The event is expected to attract about 2,000 people. The U.S. Foodservice-Streator division employees will volunteer as servers. Saturday, June 19, from 4 - 8 p.m.: The Dwight Knights of Columbus will host a dinner at St. Pat's Hall, 118 W. Mazon, Dwight, Illinois. Approximately 1,000 people are expected to support the event.Together, the events are expected to raise more than $20,000 for local relief agencies. "There is an amazing spirit of generosity throughout the Streator community and we are proud to lend support wherever we can," said Peter Barickman, division president, U.S. Foodservice. Barickman also said that in addition to donating food and supplies to the fundraisers, the Streator division is distributing ready-to-eat lunches daily to the hundreds of relief workers helping the community and to homeowners working to restore their houses in the tornado-affected parts of Streator. USF is also providing financial assistance to help employees recover from this extraordinary crisis through the USF Company Assistance for Relief in Emergency Situations (CARES) program, created in 2005 to help employees facing hardships due to devastating events, such as Hurricane Katrina. To date, the program has provided financial assistance to 500 employees with more than $1.6 million in loans and grants.
