U.S. Cellular opens store: Grand opening, ribbon-cutting celebrated at chamber's Business After Hours eventOct 17, 2008 (The Register-Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- U.S. Cellular held a grand opening for its new location during the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours event Thursday. "U.S. Cellular is pleased to announce our new store location in Beckley at 121 Beckley Crossing Shopping Plaza," said Dee Taylor, U.S. Cellular's director of sales for the Mid-Atlantic. The new location, next door to Pro Golf Discount, boasts 3,500 square feet and is a third larger than the previous location, according to Taylor. "It was designed to meet the growing demand for customer service and convenience," she said. Taylor says the store employs eight associates and features consulting stations, product information displays and interactive phone demonstration stations. "Associates walk customers through the process of selecting a rate plan, phone and wireless accessories," Taylor said. "Our stores are set up for our associates to help customers with whatever they need because you don't buy a phone from a company, you buy it from a person," Taylor added. Beckley Mayor Emmett Pugh and the chamber celebrated the new location during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held prior to Business After Hours. Those attending were able to register to win LG, Motorola, Blackberry and Bluetooth products. The Beckley location is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., Taylor said.
