United States : WHITE HOUSE wants businesses to work with each other and government to boost cybersecurity [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) In order to strengthen cybersecurity and help stop hackers and other cyber criminals, the White House cyber organizer has urged businesses to cooperate with each other and the government.

Cybersecurity came into focus again this week when Home Depot said over 50 million customers stand the risk of identity theft after a violation its online security and that makes it more timely than ever to discuss the issues behind what looks like the endless hacking of leading corporations.

Presented some proposals to do just that in a blog post on Friday, Cyber organizer Michael Daniel said : "Just as a neighborhood bands together to raise its collective safety, we can work as a community to strengthen our collective defenses to make it harder for those who wish to cause harm. First, we can broaden how we think about cybersecurity to make our defenses more effective." Daniel pointed out to the continuing comment period on the new framework for cybersecurity to secure key U.S. infrastructure.

The National Institute for Standards and Technology in the Commerce Department is welcoming comments until Oct. 10 on the issue which spans a lot of corporate cybersecurity issues, including Wall-Street and other funding agencies.
