United States : UHIN, SECURITYMETRICS join hands to tackle security challenges with new program [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Not just do HIPAA security gaps adversely affect consumers and patients, but they also cost the healthcare sector time, money, and hard-earned reputation.

The Utah Health Information Network (UHIN) and data security major SecurityMetrics have joined hands to tackle security challenges with a new program that helps UHIN members comply with federal data security regulations and boost the safety of their electronic environments.

As a vulnerability evaluation and remediation program, SecurityMetrics HIPAA Onset helps UHIN members identify possible risks to their systems and understand actionable to-dos to make patient data safer.

The program was developed for provider organizations with limited technology resources, as well as those with strong IT infrastructures.

President of UHIN, Teresa Rivera, said : "UHIN is pleased to partner with SecurityMetrics to increase security throughout the communication network used by our community. We believe so strongly that security should be a high priority for all involved in healthcare that we have purchased for our members services to simplify the process of ensuring their own data security." Russ Stay, VP of Business Operations at SecurityMetrics, added : "Given the demands of IT security in healthcare, it s refreshing to find a medical service provider so centered on protecting both member and patient data. UHIN members who take advantage of HIPAA Onset and other available data security tools will significantly lower their risk of a data breach while simultaneously moving closer to HIPAA compliance."
