Ultra-Rugged Sonim XP STRIKE, Offering the Gold Standard in Push-to-Talk
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. --(Business Wire)--
Since its launch in fall 2011, Sprint (News - Alert)® Direct Connect®
has grown into the wireless industry's gold standard for push-to-talk
with triple the square miles of coverage compared to the legacy Nextel
National Network. Now entering its 19th year offering
push-to-talk, Sprint (NYSE:S), the industry-leader, expands its
push-to-talk device portfolio with the addition of its most rugged
Sprint Direct Connect device yet - Sonim® XP STRIKE.
Sonim XP STRIKE is the first device from Sonim in Sprint's product
portfolio. Featuring instant call setup time on domestic push-to-talk
calls, international coverage to Latin American countries that most

"Sprint is the pioneer in push-to-talk and with Sprint Direct Connect it
has set a standard by which all carriers are judged; no other carrier

experience," said David Owens, vice president-Product Development,

toughest environments know they can rely on Sprint Direct Connect with
instant push-to-talk and broadband data across the country with the
ultra-rugged Sonim XP STRIKE."

fail. It can be dropped from 6.5 feet, land on concrete and still be
used. Sonim XP STRIKE can be submerged in up to 6.5 feet of water for up
to 30 minutes without missing a beat.
"Sonim is proud to introduce a new category of device to Sprint's Direct
Connect roadmap: the ultra-rugged phone, the world's toughest is
designed specifically for workers in extreme and demanding
environments," said Grant Fay, general manager-Sonim Technologies. "With
our industry-leading three-year warranty, covering accidental damage as
standard, and a range of rugged, professional-grade push-to-talk
accessories, Sonim XP STRIKE is the phone that legacy Nextel Direct
Connect customers have been waiting for."
In 2012, Sprint added more coverage area to its Sprint Direct Connect
push-to-talk service - creating three times the push-to-talk coverage of
its Nextel National Network - with the addition of roaming and Sprint
1xRTT coverage areas.2 The expansion of the Sprint Direct
Connect network also mars another milestone for Network Vision,
Sprint's nationwide network upgrade using the newest, most advanced
equipment in the industry. Sprint plans to consolidate multiple network
technologies into one seamless network with the goal of increasing
efficiency and enhancing network coverage, call quality and data speeds
for customers.
Network
Vision will bring 4G LTE (News - Alert) and improved 3G to customers nationwide,
with expected benefits to include better coverage, improved network
reliability and voice quality.
