TV show to feature McPike Mansion

ALTON, Nov 09, 2009 (The Telegraph - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The McPike Mansion once again will be profiled on a national cable television feature about investigators who check into paranormal activities.

Discovery Channel will air a segment of the show "Ghost Lab" at 9 p.m. Tuesday. The team from Texas-based Everyday Paranormal investigators will be at the house, which some claim has paranormal activity.

The same 60-minute segment, which producers say "investigates the cause of residual hauntings," also visits the Lemp Mansion in St. Louis. It is entitled, "If Walls Could Talk." Discovery Channel is on Channel 33 on Charter Communications.

George and Sharyn Luedke own the tall, vacant brick building at 2018 Alby St., which has been the subject of several previous "ghostly" themed television shows over the years.

"I think it is good for tourism in the area," Sharyn Luedke said.

She said she is prohibited from discussing the show or the filming.

Architect Lucas Pfeiffenberger built the house on what then was his 15-acre property in 1869. It is in disrepair and has not been occupied since the 1950s.

Brad Klinge founded Everyday Paranormal in October 2007, with his brother, Barry, serving as vice president of the paranormal investigative company. A reporter was unable to reach the Klinge brothers for further information about their visit to Alton or the McPike segment.
