TSA PreCheck Application Center Now Open At San Francisco International Airport

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SAN FRANCISCO, July 22 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Administration issued the following news release: The Transportation Security Administration and San Francisco International Airport (http://www.tsa.gov/redirect?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flysfo.com%2F) (SFO) today announced the opening of an application site for TSA PreCheck, an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag. TSA is currently in the process of expanding to more than 300 application centers across the country.

The TSA PreCheck application process allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to go through a pre-enrollment process online at tsa.gov and visit an application center to provide biographic information (e.g. name, date of birth, address, etc.), fingerprints, valid required identity and citizenship/immigration documentation (http://www.tsa.gov/tsa-precheck/required-documentation) and an application fee of $85 for a five-year membership.

"We are thrilled that the public will have the ability to enroll in TSA PreCheck at SFO," said TSA's San Francisco Federal Security Director Fred Lau. "During the application process, travelers will provide basic biographical information about themselves. TSA uses that information to pre-screen applicants and, if approved, they become eligible for expedited screening on a consistent basis." Once approved, travelers will receive a Known Traveler Number and will have the opportunity to utilize TSA PreCheck lanes at security checkpoints at 118 participating airports and on 11 major airlines: Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.

As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.

Additional program information and how to enroll can be found at tsa.gov (http://www.tsa.gov/).
