Tribune Broadcasting Selects Vibes Media to Promote Programming on Mobile Devices

CHICAGO --(Business Wire)-- Vibes Media today announced an agreement with Tribune Broadcasting to develop unique mobile marketing campaigns designed to enhance promotion of Tribune's key entertainment and news programming. Under the agreement, Vibes, a leading provider of interactive text message and mobile content marketing, will provide Tribune with a broad range of sales, promotion and content delivery tools enabling television stations to enhance user engagement while driving incremental revenue.

"Mobile is an important part of both our digital and marketing strategies because it creates a deep one-on-one bond with our viewers," said Rick Felty, vice president, digital media, Tribune Broadcasting. "Vibes' strong platform for mobile content delivery and marketing allows us to engage our audience wherever they are and deliver content where they want it. Several of our stations have already executed successful mobile programs with Vibes and we're excited to be expanding this relationship."

Tribune Broadcasting turned to Vibes Media after evaluating Vibes' experience in building successful, large-scale campaigns that leverage mobile texting in support of broadcast, radio, print, out of home and online marketing efforts. Using Vibes' program measurement technology, Tribune stations can track the performance of specific marketing messages within their respective advertising mediums, allowing each station to fine tune messaging for maximum promotional impact.

Tribune Broadcasting, a division of Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB), owns and operates 23 major-market television stations and reaches more than 80 percent of U.S. television households. The group is anchored by Superstation WGN, which can be seen in more than 70 million U.S. households via cable and satellite services. Vibes has the flexibility to work with all of Tribune Broadcasting's properties--large or small--to develop customized, retention-based marketing tools that optimize each station's unique marketplace offering.

Vibes has partnered with many of today's most recognized companies in a wide range of fields to deliver innovative programs that engage participants in extended interaction. Vibes has executed more than 9,500 programs in every market in the United States, drawing more than 22 million participants and over 220 million text messages. The resulting average of 11.8 messages per participant demonstrates the strength of the ongoing consumer interactions Vibes' programs forge for marketers.

"Tribune Broadcasting is ahead of the curve in understanding that not all mobile programs are good mobile programs. Each of Tribune's broadcast properties needs a customized mobile strategy and program specific to that market," said Adam Carl, director of Ad Sales, Vibes Media. "Vibes specializes in tailoring great mobile programs to address, reach and exceed specific goals. We're excited to be partnering with Tribune on its mobile strategy and creating deeper relationships between Tribune and its viewers."
