Transition Networks Cost-Effective Fiber Network Integration Products Take Spotlight at 2016 BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition

Transition Networks, Inc., the fiber network integration expert, a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-GM: JCS), today announced it will showcase advanced fiber integration products, including its new family of hardened mini 10/100/1000 Ethernet media converters, at the 2016 BICSI (News - Alert) Winter Conference & Exhibition, taking place from Jan. 31-Feb. 4, 2016, at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

The company's new line of hardened media converters includes the M/GE-ISW-xx-01, which measures a space saving 1.8 inches wide by 3.3 inches deep by 0.8 inches high. The converter offers a cost-effective, way to integrate the benefits of fiber-optic networking - increased data throughput, distance and security - into a hardened Ethernet network.

This new product family is an extension of Transition Networks (News - Alert) popular mini product line that offers copper-to-fiber conversion within a package that is more than 50 percent the size of a traditional media converter. In addition to temperature hardening, the new mini product also introduces Active Link Pass-through, which isolates network issues during product installation and trouble-shooting.

As part of BICSI's New Product Pavlion, Transition Networks will display its latest addition to the full-line of fiber Network Interface Cards (NIC (News - Alert)), N-GXE-POE-xx-01, designed to support a fiber-optic network connection to a computer and a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) connection to a voice over IP (VoIP) phone or other powered device. The NIC is ideal for organizations that have fiber to the desktop, but still need to support desktop PoE devices. This release also adds the innovation to supply power to the IP phone even when the computer is at S1 sleep mode.

Transition Networks will be in booth #307 where show attendees can also see a demo of the PoE+ NIC.

"Many organizations we talk to know they could benefit from adding more fiber-optic cabling to their network - either across the board or strategically - and when they see the extent of the way that Transition Networks can help with that, they get very interested," said Curt Carlson, Product Manager for Transition Networks. "The BICSI conference is an important venue for Transition Networks because we get a chance to consult with people interested in integrating more fiber into their networks."

Also at the booth, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the ION Multi-Service Integration Platform, a modular solution for areas in the network, such as enterprise networks, carrier networks and data centers that require integration of fiber into a legacy copper network. The ION Platform incorporates the industry's most comprehensive offering of full-featured media converters, making it the best choice for organizations seeking enterprise-class or carrier-class integration, optimization, and navigation of their networks.

Win a YETI Cooler

Booth visitors will have a chance to win a YETI cooler by completing an in-booth survey or by having an official BICSI cup/koozie that is marked with a "winner" sticker.
