Trademark East Africa to Lease Staff Laptops for Three Years


(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TradeMark East Africa (TEMA) on Monday published a tender for lease of laptops for its employees.

According to the tender specifications, suppliers are required to deliver and provide services for a period of three years (the lease period) while the hardware should be delivered within four weeks of contract signature. The tender also requires defective laptops to replaced within two working days.



TMEA will use 50 laptops annually over the lease period while payments to the supplier will be made on a quarterly basis.

According to the published tender the only way to apply is online through TEMA's portal. "Only applications from firms / consortiums shall be accepted. Interested and qualified consultancy firms must register and apply online only on the TEMA procurement portal on the website and all attachments must be 10 MB or less," the tender states.


The laptops - all Intel Core i5 with 4GB of RAM and 500GB hard disk - need to be supplied with accessories including bags (briefcase), docking units, mouse and cable locks. The supplier is also required to provide service support - which includes an automated helpdesk support system and service offering, hardware support services, software maintenance, system upgrades, patching and service center facilities. The Supplier is also required to carry out quarterly preventive maintenance which will include general cleanup, as well as addressing any issues that are noticeable to the laptops, among others. Annual maintenance shall also be required, and this will include but not limited to software upgrades and Preventive maintenance on a much deeper scale.

TEMA is an NGO that seeks to promote regional trade and economic integration in East Africa. It has its main offices in Nairobi with branches in Arusha, Bujumbura, Dar es Sallaam, Kampala, Kigali and Juba and is inviting bids for the lease of laptop computers to support TEMA staff with their daily operations.
